Look out for your “Purpose Killers”

When we find our purpose, Heaven rejoices. God has kept divine purposes for you and me so that we live meaningful lives. Only a personal encounter with Jesus Christ can make us walk the path to find and fulfill our purposes.

But even after we find our purpose there are many such elements that deviate and distract us from being focused on to our purpose.I call them as “Purpose Killers”.

When we are focused on God’s purposes we will fulfill His will. But Purpose Killers make us stray away from God’s will.

Unholy Relationships,  Unhealthy Entertainment, Gossip, Anger, Pride, Envy, etc., are Purpose Killers, to name a few.

IDENTIFY your Purpose Killers.

We might think,

“Though this _____________ (PK) is in my life, I am doing good in my life/work/ministry”.

“I don’t see it causing me any harm”.

Though life may seem to be flourishing, the Purpose Killers subtly make us slip every time we indulge in them. Slight slips takes one towards a great fall.

While all the while we think that it isn’t causing any harm, it would be late when we find ourselves at a place of total deviation and total destruction. When change will become too late. Restoration would not be wholesome.

So look out for the Purpose Killers. Wasted Time, Wrong Choices, Unnecessary Relationship…..

God’s Purpose for our life is much greater than Pleasure; much costlier and valuable than Penny; more meaningful than all People’s relationships.

It’s Time to Kill your Purpose Killer. It’s Time to Focus "onto your Purpose in this New Year.

“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (Colossians 3:1,2 MSG)

ஆனால் பரிசுத்தத்தை கைவிட்டு பாவ பழக்கத்தில் பிரவேசித்ததால் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுதல் வீணாகி போய்விட்டதே

சிந்தையில் சிலுவைப் பாடுகளை சிந்தித்து சிறுமைப்பட்டவர்களை சீஷர்களாக்க தெரிந்து கொண்டீர்

ஆனால் சிந்திய இரத்தமும் சிலுவையின் கொடுமையும் மறந்து போனதால் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுதல் வீணாகி போய்விட்டதே

ஆத்துமப் பாரம் கொண்டு மனம் போல் வாழ்பவர்களை மகிமையின் மன்னவனிடத்தில் சேர்க்க தெரிந்து கொண்டீர்

ஆனால் ஆத்துமப் பாரம் மறைந்து ஆடம்பரம் பெருகி ஆனவம் ஆட்கொண்டதால் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுதல் வீணாகி போய்விட்டதே

தீபாவளி என்றாலே மனதில் வருவது பட்டாசு

ஆசையாய் கொளுத்தினாலும் கரியாய் போவதோ காசு

ஆசை தீர கொளுத்தினாலும் திருப்தியடையாது மனசு

திரும்பத் திரும்ப தேடுவார் பட்டாசு வகைகளில் புதுசு

தீபாவளி வந்தாலே எல்லா கடைகளிலும் அமோக விற்பனை

கடை கடையாய் ஏரியும் பூர்த்தியாகாத வீட்டாரின் நிபந்தனை

When will the Rain come?

Dry is the land, rain it looks for,

Dark clouds in the sky, oh they appear,

Deep within the heart, thoughts that lie and mar,

Dark as clouds they do appear but also make life sour;

 

When will the rain come?

When will the pain calm down?

When will the dark clouds move away?

When will the spark that lasts would light my way?

 

Here I am down and depressed,

Hope that which is dull and withered,

Hard is it to keep it within or to open up,

Hovering over choices that seem not to add up;

 

Why is it there a delay?

What is the price that I have to pay?

Where are the promises and the visions?

When will it all fulfil and make up for the lost seasons?

 

I do not know when will it all happen,

I, but know the One, who causes it all to happen,

I am though troubled, am not without hope and courage,

I, for live and leap with the grace and strength that Jesus provides.

Confused over God’s Will in Career?

On 4th Sep 2012 as I came home in the evening I told my wife, “I have a desire to work in Africa… and also would like to work in the UN (United Nations)”. Angel replied, “Josh, is this like one among your many desires??” and she went on to laugh.

Next day morning, that is on 5th Sep I come to the office and opened my email and this is what I see -

What would you call this – Coincidence or Divine leading?

The next day other than my daily meditational routine of the Bible I happened to read a particular portion from the Book of Jeremiah and this is what I read (the 45th chapter) -

45 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the instruction of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying, ² “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: ³ ‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the Lord has added grief to my sorrow. I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.”’

⁴ “Thus you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Behold, what I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up, that is, this whole land. ⁵ And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh,” says the Lord. “But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go.”’”

While the entire book of Jeremiah is prophecies concerning Judah and a call for it to repent, in this particular chapter the prophecy is directly concerning Baruch, the Scribe whom the Lord used to write down the prophecies that He gave to Jeremiah.

I know that God’s call for my life is to write, to be God’s Scribe, which He spoke through the book of Ezekiel in year 2007. And at this juncture I read this prophecy. The words that I have made bold struck me as hard as a hammer and I knew exactly what the Lord was speaking to me – Do not seek great things for yourself!

And for the last two weeks I have been meditating the 4th chapter of Luke and since last week I am meditating from Luke 4:14-30 and these are the inferences that I drew from this Scripture.

• The ministry of Jesus was founded on the Scriptures
• He knew His purpose from the Scriptures
• He was not disturbed when people did not understand His call

I asked these questions to myself -

1. Is my ministry founded on God’s Word?
2. Am I sure of God’s purpose for my life and ministry?
3. Am I looking for a way out because of oppression or disturbance? And do I want to change my purpose/place because of this?

And I could realize and experience the assurance of God, as He assured Baruch!

Episode 1 – The Breakfast Show

We welcome you once again to this week’s episode in NutKolo’s show “Our Home”. And this week’s show is “The Breakfast Show”.

It is a bright Monday morning and Mr. Mariyosh and Mrs. Angeline Mariyosh are getting ready to go to their respective workplaces. Even as Mr. Mariyosh is having his morning devotions Mrs. Mariyosh asks him, “Dear, what do you want for breakfast?” And before he answers here she goes, “I have planned to make “Chuda” (flattened rice).

Mariyosh: (smilingly) So you have been planning this for a while it seems…

Angeline: (smilingly too) And I am waiting for milk to arrive. It is almost 8:20 and the milkman hasn’t come yet.

Mariyosh: Don’t worry dear he will come.

Angeline: Last time when I made Chuda you couldn’t eat much because you said it was dry so this time I have planned to add more milk.

Mariyosh: If the milkman doesn’t arrive what’s your backup plan? OK, Plan A is to make Chuda.

What is Plan B?

Angeline: (in deep thought) Hmmm…

Mariyosh: (laughingly) Plan B is making Chuda and Plan C? Plan C is also making Chuda…

(Both burst out laughing)

Angeline: No dear! Plan B is not making Chuda, but to eat at the Canteen!

Even as they were planning to eat Chuda this morning there seemed to be a problem in their plan. Whether they got to eat Chuda according to Angeline’s plan, did her plan come to pass, let’s see after the break! Don’t go anywhere… Stay tuned with NutKolo…

Welcome back to NutKolo’s “Our Home” and you are watching “The Breakfast Show” in this episode.

Mrs. Angeline planned to prepare Chuda for Breakfast and there is a problem. It is 8:40 and still the milkman has not arrived!

Angeline: Josh, the milkman has not yet come; what shall I do? I have told him many a times to come on time, but he doesn’t come on time.

Mariyosh: It’s OK dear. You take a tiffin box and go to school and ask a peon to get Idlis for you. On my way to the office I will eat at the canteen.

And just then the milkman arrives. Mrs. Angeline puts the milk on the stove to boil it. As the milk boils, she adds it to her bowl of Chuda and quickly eats her breakfast. And before she leaves she prepares it for her husband too and leaves it at the kitchen table.

After getting ready he too eats Chuda and goes to office and they live happily ever after!

Remembering Mary Ann (Annie)

Mary Ann (Annie)....

 

“unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:24)

It is hard to believe that it has been ten long years since she went to be with the Lord. Her life was simple, but lived wonderfully. Accepted the Lord in her teens, brought many of her friends and family members into Christ, many who are now ministering for the Lord and are even missionaries in far land. Went onto become a missionary herself in Bihar along with her friend Jemimah. All young ones whose lives she touched and changed still remember her for the seeds that she implanted in them.

To me personally she was more dearer than my own sister - she was my elder sister in Christ who really cared for me and was there for me always when I was discouraged, down and helpless.

I admired her knowledge and depth in The Bible, her intimate walk with the Lord and sensitiveness to God.

I came to GEMS English School and appointed in her place as an English teacher to the classes she taught, when she was transferred to another school. But never thought that we would be called at the same time to serve as pioneers in Urban Ministry in the same place, Patna.

All those who knew Annie, would remember her for her love for the Lord, passion to serve Him, sacrifices that she made and above all the attitude of giving.

Call it destiny, if you may, that she breathed her last in the same place where she received gold medal in Karate Black Belt. But it is not the end, because we have the assurance that we would see her in the Day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns -

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first” (1 Thess 4:14-16)

Until then we will miss you, Annie!

His Missionary!

I don’t have a Cabin, I sit in a Corner,

But I have Christ and Character;

I am not Constituted, and I don’t have Cheerers,

But I am Chosen and Called;

I neither possess Power nor Position,

But to fulfil God’s Purposes, I will Function;

People may not know my Name, nor I am Fame,

Back from being Backslidden

Distractions leading to Deviation ending up in Destruction – Destruction of the Soul,

Need Divine intervention and Daily empowerment to be a Disciple – Disciple of Jesus;

 

Thru grace was Saved, called to be a Salt, but lost the Strength – the Strength to resist,

Need the Saviour’s intimacy, the Father’s Support and the Spirit’s Power – to Shame the devil;

 

Worldly attractions, makes one Wayward, takes one away from the Word – the Word that gives life,

Worship forgotten, Ways changed, the Word not lived – the Word that gives light;

 

Called for the Master’s work, but Caressed in the world’s Comfort, Caught in the devil’s Craftiness – Craftiness that Callouses a Christian,

Claim the Promises, Cast off all evil Pleasure, Care for the Purpose – the Purpose of God in your life;

 

Called to be Holy, Carrying on with Hypocrisy, Caring not to Heed – to Heed the nudge of the Conscience & the Spirit,

‘Cause He died for our sins, let’s be Convicted of sinful Habits, and Commit to be Healed – Healed of all transgressions;

 

Precious is the Salvation, Purchased by the Saviour’s blood, Provided to unworthy Sinners – Sinners made worthy by the Surpassing grace,

Prepared for every Good work, Planned for God’s glory, and to Proclaim the Gospel – the Gospel of Jesus Christ;

Is there FRUIT in you?

It is Summer! Hot Summer! And we would be naturally attracted to fruits and natural juices. Right in the middle of a hot ride or after it, nothing would refresh us as that of a fresh fruit juice, isn’t it?

 

 

 

The best of ALL is Fruit in Ice cream! Best way to beat the heat, right?

 

Even otherwise fruits are used in so many products that we use – from soaps to shampoos to hair oil to hair cream and on and on…

So much of fruit in all that we use! When we look at all these no wonder if it makes one think how much “fruit” is in us!

But are we really filled with fruits? Let us see what does it mean to have “fruit” in us. There is a test called FRUIT-FLESH Test to determine whether fruit is present in us or is it absent.

“ the FRUIT of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control…” (Galatians 5:22, 23a)

Are these fruits found in you or are the following works of the flesh found in you?

“the works of the FLESH are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity, idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions, envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things…” (Galatians 5:19-21a)

But how to live a life filled with FRUITS where the works of the FLESH are absent?

“Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” (Galatians 5:24)

First you need to belong to Christ and then crucify the flesh. To belong to Christ, you need to believe in Him and receive Him – believe that Jesus Christ suffered and died for your sins and rose again.

“The one who belongs to God listens and responds to God’s words. You don’t listen and respond, because you don’t belong to God.” (John 8: 47) God’s Word is the Holy Bible. Everyday you need to read and meditate it.

“We know that our old man was crucified with Him (Jesus) so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.” (Romans 6:6)

“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires, and do not present your members to sin as instruments to be used for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments to be used for righteousness.” (Romans 6:12, 13)

Let this Summer be a time for you to be filled with FRUITS! The next time you go to a shop to buy fruits or whenever you eat fruits or drink fruit juice or using anything that has fruit, remember and remind yourself to be filled with the REAL FRUIT!
