Bihar has been for a long time named as a backward state. But when we look at the history of Bihar, the state had been one of its kind in India. King Ashoka ruled with Patna (then known as Pataliputra) as his capital. Sher Shah Suri the only emperor who overthrew Babar’s rule, ruled from Sasaram (in Bihar). Nalanda, the first ancient university is in Bihar.
But sometime in the course of history the tables had turned. What happened still remains a mystery! (I am planning to shortly undertake a research on this).
The photos and the videos below are that of the Complex dedicated to manage finance of the Mithila Kingdom ruled by King Kameshwar Singh, who ruled from Darbhanga. An awesome architecture! I was amazed to see the artistic work that is done inside this building. The entrance supported on the back of four elephants, the screw like looking pillars, joined together at the top in the form of a circle, are a wonderful sight.
The government uses only 1/5th of this big complex as a Arts college. The rest of the building is withering given to the extreme climatic conditions of North Bihar. If renovated, this place is sure to attract tourists from around the globe.
